Operators of heat pumps with separate electricity meters can benefit from retroactive financial relief. For the year 2025, they are entitled to a refund of certain electricity levies that are normally charged on heat pump electricity.
Legal basis: "Umlagenentlastung" under the EnFG
With Section 22 of the "Energiefinanzierungsgesetz" (EnFG), the German Bundestag has decided to provide relief for heat pump operators. Approval by the EU is not required for this. However, the prerequisite is that the claim is submitted within the specified time limit. In 2025, the relevant levies amounted to:
- KWKG: 0,277 ct/kWh
- Offshore: 0,816 ct/kWh
Important: Registration must be completed by 28 February 2026 at the latest via the respective electricity supplier with the responsible grid operator.
